How Godrej Housing Finance launched a digital-first lending business on AWS in under 9 months
Godrej Capital Limited, the financial arm of Godrej Industries and holding entity for Godrej Housing Finance (HFC) and Godrej Finance Limited (NBFC), set out in 2020 to build a new digital lending business without investing in physical IT infrastructure. Flentas partnered with Godrej Housing Finance from the beginning, designing and provisioning its IT environment on AWS. The engagement covered the cloud foundation, application readiness, infrastructure, security, and integrations required to take the business live in under nine months.

The Challenge
A new digital-first business with no room for traditional IT overhead
Godrej Housing Finance wanted to build its technology environment around a digital-first operating model from day one. That meant avoiding the infrastructure overhead associated with a traditional on-premise setup while still creating a foundation that could support a regulated lending business.
No capital assets
The business did not want to acquire physical IT infrastructure, ruling out a conventional on-premise build-out.

The technology environment needed to remain flexible as the business added applications and expanded into new locations.
Complex application landscape
Core lending applications, including the Loan Origination System (LOS) and Loan Management System (LMS), needed to work with document management systems and multiple digital partners from the outset.
The Approach
A ground-up AWS build, from Landing Zone to application integration
Flentas worked with Godrej Housing Finance's leadership and technical teams from inception to design the cloud environment around the requirements of the new business.
The first step was establishing the AWS Landing Zone and core IT infrastructure. Servers, storage, load balancers, VPC, network topology, security groups, and Amazon RDS were provisioned using AWS best practices in under two months.
Flentas then conducted a cloud readiness assessment across application owners and vendors. This covered the LOS, LMS, document management, and integrations with digital partners, helping identify what was required to bring the application landscape onto the new infrastructure.
The resulting architecture used elastic compute and storage across multiple Availability Zones in the AWS Mumbai Region, with load balancing designed to support availability as the business scaled.
The infrastructure was also structured around AWS's pay-as-you-go model, allowing Godrej Housing Finance to manage cloud costs based on usage and add applications without requiring new physical infrastructure.
